Xbox Xploder Cheatsaves Guide

Date: 19 January 2006

We show you how easy it is to use our Xbox Xploder product...

Welcome to the latest Xploder guide. Today we"re taking a look at the Xbox Cheatsaves System. This system allows you to backup your saves from you Xbox to your PC and to download new saves from Xploder.net and copy them over to your console.
Now before we begin with the fun stuff you"ll need to install the drivers and Xploder software. So pop the disk in the drive, follow all the instructions and install the software. Now that wasn"t too bad was it? You may find you have to reboot your PC and it"s good practice to do so, so once you"re up and running again the next thing you need to do is to attach the USB connector to your PC.

You can see me inserting the USB plug into a spare USB socket on my PC in the above image.

Now you can go ahead and insert the Xploder Cheatsaves memory unit into the connector. We"ll then be ready to start the Xploder software, find the software via the Windows Start Menu or from a desktop shortcut and we can begin.

Above you"ll see that we"ve started the Xploder Cheatsaves software. On the left hand panel you can see the saves currently stored on the PC. You can also see that the right hand panel is blank, that"s because the memory unit wasn"t plugged into the connector when the screenshot was taken. Any saves that exist on the memory card appear in the right hand panel.
Let"s search for some saves at Xploder.net and download them onto the PC using the Cheatsaves software. First you"ll need to enter your registration details so you can log into Xploder.net. If you"re not registered yet, follow the instructions in the manual and make sure you"ve got your m-code card to hand, it"s a small card with a serial number that came with your Cheatsaves product.

In the above image you can see that I"ve logged into the system, I"ve blurred my password but it has been entered, allowing me to access the online store of Xploder saves.
We want to look for saves on the Xploder online system so if you click the button to the far left of the software"s left-hand panel it will open the software"s online component.
Click the icon at the top right of this new panel and the search box will appear, you can see it in the image below.

Need for Speed: Most Wanted (Xbox)

£39.99

If there's one thing to be said of the Need for Speed series, it's that it never stays the same for long. After only one sequel EA have decided to give the underground night racing theme a rest and let you drive in the sunlight for a change. You're still a super-illegal street racer though and indeed much of the game revolves around you being pursued by the police in some very Blues Brothers-esque chases.

Appearing to take a leaf out of Burnout's book, the game encourages you to make the most of traffic and roadside objects, in order to put off the long arm of the law or simply one of your fellow racers. The demo race so far seen features a lot of weaving in and out of traffic and some very cinematic touches such as zipping underneath a giant lorry carrying tree logs, which then spill out on the road behind you further aiding your escape.

The graphics in the game have definitely received a boost from the last one and appear far more detailed and ambitious in scope than Underground. Unsurprisingly the ability to customise your car is still a large part of the appeal, although again there's a big distinction between extras that are just for show and performance tuning that actually has an effect on the way your car performs.

It probably still won't please hardened petrolheads but if you just want a simple, accessible racing game it looks like Need for Speed is set to deliver once more. --Harrison Dent

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell (Xbox)

Author Tom Clancy has written some fine novels, and UbiSoft has written some great games based on these works. Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell is one such release. This one is a bit different, however: it models itself on that champion of espionage, Metal Gear Solid 2, which, as it happens, is a good thing.

As Sam Fisher, you are out to save the world from international terrorism. In doing this, stealth is of paramount importance. Splinter Cell makes terrific use of light and shadows in this regard. If Sam Fisher stays in the dark, he is less likely to be seen; but, equipped with night vision goggles, you are not hindered by the lighting effects. It's a clever system that creates some memorable scenes and adds to the sensation of being undercover.

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell is a supremely balanced game. The initial training received is just long enough, gameplay is perfectly weighted between stealth and action, and the blend of different objectives in missions ensures that the experience never becomes a chore. More than being merely balanced, though, Splinter Cell excels in all areas. This is as compelling a spy game as you'll ever play. --Jonti Davies
