It has been a few weeks since our last invigorating report on company acquisitions within the gaming industry so our hearts skipped a beat and we felt slightly light headed when we read a report on this possible takeover. Square Enix is one of Japan's largest developers and is a company that has made a sizable pot of Gil from its wildly popular Final Fantasy series. Taito is one of Japan's oldest entertainment companies, formed all the way back in 1953 and is most famous as the makers of the Space Invaders arcade game.
Square has offered to pay as much as 67 billion yen, ($610 million) to buy Taito, or 181,000 a share for 67% of the company.
