Koei announced in this week"s edition of Famitsu magazine that Omega-Force, the development division responsible for the Dynasty Warriors series, is working on a new title. The game, called Trinity: Zill O"ll Zero, will come out for the PS3 sometime this winter in Japan; no US release has been announced, but given Koei"s previous track record, it"s pretty likely to come out here.

Trinity is set in the world of Zill O"ll, a Japan-only RPG first released on the PlayStation in 1999 and later expanded and re-released on the PS2 and PSP. It"s an action RPG where you control a part of three people -- Aleus, a half-elf gifted in melee and magical combat; Dagza, an all -out barbarian; and Selene, an acrobatic warrior -- as they traverse the high-fantasy game world and defeat enemies. The game is largely open-ended, with lots of subquests to explore and the order of the game"s story sequence largely up to you to decide.

Akihiro Suzuki and Tomohiko Sho, the two main people behind the Dynasty Warriors games, are serving as Trinity"s producer and director respectively. Character designs are being handled by Jun Suemi, a veteran Japanese artist who contributed a great deal of work to the Wizardry games upon their Asian release.
