Warner Bros has offered $33 million for bankrupt publisher Midway -- a sum which would be enough to purchase the majority of the company and its assets.
According to the release, Warner Bros. will acquire the Mortal Kombat franchise as well as the publisher"s Chicago and Seattle studios. The agreement does not include Midway"s San Diego studio and TNA Impact, nor does it include the Wheelman devs in Newcastle.
Warner Bros. has been rumored to be Midway"s prime suitor since April, when "reliable trade sources" suggested that the media conglomerate was about to make an offer. As we pointed out at the time, Warner Bros. has been keen to build their portfolio, having earlier attempted to purchased Eidos Interactive.
