At the time, it was considered a bold step by both Sony and Microsoft to enter the HD era. The system was announced as being equipped with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 6 USB ports, a detachable hard drive, and featured backwards compatibility with PlayStation 1 and PlayStation 2 games -- a feature that would later be removed.

Besides the impressive possibility for 54GB of storage on a single Blu-ray disc, there were a number of games announced: a new Killzone, Warhawk, Devil May Cry 4, Heavenly Sword, and MotorStorm were among those shown during the media briefing.

The Arcade Edition DLC will bring identical character balance to that of what you see in actual arcades, as well as four new characters. It'll be available on June 7 to owners of Super Street Fighter IV (but not regular Street Fighter IV), but in order to purchase it, you'll first have to download an update that will also be released on June 7 for Xbox 360 and PS3. This prepares the game for one of two DLC packs that you can then download.

If you want to buy Arcade Edition, you'll be able to do so after getting the patch for the price of $14.99 (1200 Microsoft Points). Alternatively, you can download the free "Update Kit" that will enable you to spectate matches using the new content, and allow you to play against Arcade Edition players. Matches against AE players will be restricted to old characters; the free DLC won't allow you to play as or against any of the four new characters.

The demo will only be available to First Access Club members, which you can become by pre-ordering Forever from select retailers (or by buying Borderlands' Game of the Year edition). According to the official website, participating stores in the United States are limited to Amazon and GameStop. Each of the two is also offering its own exclusive pre-order goodies (detailed here).

If you really want to go all-out, Gearbox is also offering the Balls of Steel Edition that includes a collectible bust, an art book, and more.

You can speed up the process by "liking" Deus Ex on Facebook. (In fact, you can even like the game's four different language pages to really hurry things along.) At regular intervals, based on the total number of likes the four pages have accumulated, a new asset will be unlocked on the official website. Since the program launched earlier today, only a single piece of concept art (pictured above) has been released, but there are more than 90 assets still to come, many of which were created specifically for this marketing campaign.

We recently had Jeremy Parish and Thierry Nguyen each play through a section of Human Revolution in two dramatically different ways: Jeremy played a non-lethal, stealth character, and Scooter killed everyone that got in his way. Xbox 360: The Future Revealed, as it'll be called on television, will air without commercial interruption. This is the event where Microsoft traditionally makes all of its major E3 announcements, so any word about a price drop, new game reveals, or anything of the sort are likely to be shown on TV. (Last year's highlights included the Xbox 360 redesign, Kinect's release date, and ESPN support on Xbox Live.) The media briefing will also be aired online so that you can watch it on your iPhone, iPad, and so on, according to the show's host, Geoff Keighley. Additionally, it'll be offered on demand through Xbox Live.

A press release only mentions Gears of War 3 and Forza Motorsport 4 by name; there was no teasing of secret announcements. It's said that "the latest in innovation for Kinect" will be revealed, which fits in with a rumor from earlier today that indicated we'll be seeing at least 10 new Kinect games announced, including some for the hardcore.

Beginning today, a 24-hour-only deal will be offered everyday on Steam. The very first such deal is 75% off Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising, bringing its price down to just $5.00. (And, nicely enough, there's a demo available if you'd like to try it out before taking the plunge.)

As someone who has spent copious amounts of money on games during Steam sales that I don't have the time to play, I'm scared for what this could mean for my wallet. On the bright side, this is a great way to build up a collection of PC games.

Once the PlayStation Store is restored, PSN users will be able to download two of the following PS3 games for free: Dead Nation, Infamous, LittleBigPlanet, Super Stardust HD, and Wipeout HD + Fury. PSP users will get two of the following: LittleBigPlanet, ModNation Racers, Pursuit Force, and Killzone Liberation.

Users will also be able to check out some free movie rentals over the course of a weekend; details on that will be coming soon. 30 days of free PlayStation Plus time will be offered to non-subscribers; existing subscribers will get an additional 60 days. Music Unlimited subscribers will get a free 30-day subscription. Lastly, 100 free items in PlayStation Home will be soon released for users to download.

Eurogamer says that, according to a source, the games "won't be obvious," while a different source indicated that Microsoft will "serve the hardcore" with some of the Kinect games it will have at the show. The 10 games are apparently not sequels to any existing Kinect games, although sequels to both Kinect Sports and Dance Central will be announced, Eurogamer sources claim. Other Kinect games rumored to be shown are the Kinect Star Wars game and Codename: Kingdoms.

We recently learned about a game in development at Microsoft Game Studios Vancouver that is rumored to be a "core AAA shooter." Microsoft has yet to confirm its existence, but it seems to be a likely candidate for an E3 reveal.

"To date, three Tuesday publishes were missed, which included items like Under Siege and the MotorStorm Apocalypse demo. Rest assured that you won't miss any of this great content," part of a Q&A on the PlayStation Blog states. "To catch up on the large amount of material, we'll be publishing to the PlayStation Store multiple times per week once commerce functionality is restored. We will update the PlayStation.Blog with information on timing of the Store restoration, as well as the full list of new content as each publish occurs.

As for PlayStation Plus, Sony will resume things where we left off on April 20 as opposed to jumping ahead to the present day. That will prevent subscribers from missing out on content that might otherwise have been set to expire.

"Single-player is the epic, cinematic, seat-of-your-pants thrill ride that you star in," said Treyarch head Mark Lamia to MTV Multiplayer, breaking down the main modes of Black Ops. "Then there's multiplayer, when you want to play competitive with your friends and really chisel and hone your skills and do that addictive experience. And then co-op is for when you want to have a blast with your friends, just sitting on the couch and having an awesome co-op experience.

"We're crafting unique co-op modes around that experience, but it is different than what people think," Lamia continued. He wouldn't give much detail about Black Op's co-op modes, but he confirmed they would be different than the Spec Ops mode in Modern Warfare 2. He also wouldn't confirm whether there will be a return of the Zombies co-op mode from Treyarch's last Call of Duty game, World at War.

IGN has an early hands-on preview of Hard Corps: Uprising, which is being developed by Arc System Works, best-known for their work on titles including BlazBlue and Guilty Gear.

While the look is a bit more anime than usual, the gameplay looks to be much the same as previous games. The first level will reportedly include the familiar wall boss, and power-ups like the Spread Shot will also be making their return.

The studio announced today that a Lego Harry Potter demo will be available on the Xbox 360 later this week. Playable sections will apparently include the Forbidden Forest.

The demo will be exclusive to the Xbox 360 in the early going, with PS3 and PC versions due later in the month.

In 2006, Nintendo's Wii stripped down the concept of a virtual reality interface to an affordable plastic peripheral, finally bringing the VR promise of the early 90s into the home. Microsoft is simplifying things even further this year with Project Natal, which takes away controllers entirely in favor of a camera that senses your body's movement. But Forcetek USA, a new player in the game interface market, wants to bring virtual reality back to its roots, by developing a range of devices that will cover your entire body and sense your every movement.

Yes, that's right. Forcetek wants to bring a full-body exoskeleton suit into your home.

The first batch of Red Dead Redemption downloadable content will be arriving toward the end of June.

Featuring six co-op missions that support up to four players, the Outlaws to the End pack will also include co-op challenges, multiplayer XP rewards and additional achievements and trophies.

In addition, fans can expect a title update to fix some glitches with connectivity and bounties. No word on whether Rockstar will also remove the infamous "donkey lady" glitch.

A lot about Nintendo's upcoming title Wii Party has been left to the imagination since Satoru Iwata promised the game would have "unique gameplay only available with the Wii Remote," but the first details are beginning to leak ahead of the game's July 8th release in Japan (the North American release date still unknown.)

Three of the game's reported eighty minigames have been found detailed on a listing on HMV.co.jp, with Andriasang translating them as Wanwan Karuta ("The Wiimote for each of four players plays back a different sound. Which sound matches the animal that's shown on screen?"), Remote Control Hide and Seek ("Hide your Wiimote somewhere in the room and have other players search for it, relying only on the sound made by the Wiimote.") and Sensitive Bomb ("Hold the Wiimote like a bomb, and try to pass it off to other players without shaking it.")

We don't know a whole lot about Doom 4 at the moment, but there's one thing we're relatively sure of: Nine Inch Nails frontman and longtime id Software audio collaborator Trent Reznor will probably sit this one out.

Reznor revealed on the official Tumblr site for his new band How to Destroy Angels that there's currently nothing in the works between him and the folks at id Software. "I haven't been contacted by them and find it unlikely that I would have time at this point," he wrote.

The independent musician teamed with id to provide the music for the original Quake back in 1996. He also worked as an audio engineer on Doom 3, though none of Reznor's contributions made the game's final cut.

True Games and Petroglyph have announced they have reached a mutual agreement to resolve "pending legal issues" related to the development of their action-strategy MMORPG Mytheon, which is currently in open beta. They have announced that the game is to be released July 13th.

As covered at Massively, the legal action arose from claims by True Games that Petroglyph failed to provide a finished version of Mytheon first by their original due date (mid November of last year) and again by this March; related, they claimed, to the developer increasing the scope of the game to a "full-blown MMO."
