Why the big marketing talk? Easy: Liberty City Stories has just been released on the PlayStation 2, and obviously they need every bit of hype they can generate - even if that means praising a version from a completely different (and technologically inferior) platform. Which is exactly what they did, boasting all sorts of commendations received in IGN's Best Of the PSP 2005 Awards, including "Game of the Year" for Sony's portable system.
But by the looks of it, the PS2 version is a pretty straightforward port from the PSP, with blend graphics, as indicated by these screenshots and the first GTA: Liberty City Stories PS2 trailer available now for download / streaming. The only optimizations mentioned by Rockstar reffer to the loading times, the draw distance and the population density, leaving the texture detail and the model poly-count supposedly untouched.
