Fire signs exclusive DVD Games deal for UK and Europe

Fire International today announced they have signed an exclusive agreement with Digital Leisure Inc. to distribute their range of classic DVD games.

The agreement gives Fire International exclusive rights to supply Digital Leisure’s classic DVD games throughout UK and Europe.

The range includes classic titles such as Dragons Lair, Dragons Lair 2: Timewarp and Space Ace, created by Don Bluth ex Disney animator and creator of the timeless movie classic “American Tail” and “The Land Before Time” as well as Mad Dog McCree and Who Shot Johnny Rock, and also includes new titles including Drug Wars, Crime Patrol and Space Pirates

The agreement allows Fire International rights over stand-alone sales and bundling to allow retailers a number of high profile solutions for high value bundle opportunities, whilst the DVD format allows both games and DVD retailers to offer hardware offerings with a non traditional pack to appeal to existing and new sectors.

Managing Director of Fire International, Jason Cooper said “These classic titles will bring a new level of gaming to games players everywhere. The accessibility of the DVD format allows these games to be experienced not only on DVD players but also on the PS2 and XBOX gaming consoles. The demand for retro games has never been higher and users can now have the full arcade laser disc experience at home.”

The year-end report for video games held surprises as next-generation systems took a back seat to the old standbys.

With the imminent release of Sony's PlayStation 3 (PS3), news of the groundbreaking features of the console have begun leaking from press sources around the globe.

The contrasting fortunes of two of the biggest players in the global gaming market were underlined today when Sony announced a 94% plunge in profits for the most recent quarter, while Nintendo said its profits over the first half of the fiscal year had more than tripled.
