One of our most anticipate games of 2008 may finally be getting a 2009 release. If a New York Comic Con invitation is to be believed, Prototype will be coming this summer.

According to Joystiq, Activision let slip the release window in a New York Comic Con invitation. Apparently, fans will get "their first chance to play the highly anticipated open-world/action thrilled, Prototype, planned for release in June."

To this point, Prototype has been plagued by delays, developer layoffs and feature cuts. Still looks pretty good to us though. We"ll let you know what we think at Comic Con.
