Wii Play was North America"s software champion in 2008. But it was another Wii game that took the global top honors for the year.

According to Market for Computer and Video Games, Mario Kart Wii was the top-selling game globally in 2008, moving some 8.94 million units across all of the territories. Right behind it was Wii Fit, which sold some 8.31 million units.

The list was rounded out by two multi-platform games and one more Wii title.
