World Cyber GamesOfficial signing ceremony held at the Autodromo Nazional Monza, venue for 2006 Grand Final and world famous racing circuit for Formula One Italian Grand Prix World Cyber Games brings the Grand Final to European cyber gamers and e-Sports fansThe signing ceremony for the host city of World Cyber Games (WCG) 2006 Grand Final – the world's largest computer and video game festival – was held today at the Autodromo Nazaional Monza, best known as the racing circuit for the Formula One Italian Grand Prix. The signing ceremony follows the official announcement of the host city made in August 2005, when Monza was selected by the WCG Committee as the first European city to hold the Grand Final after a competitive bid process involving four city candidates. "Our City Administration is greatly honoured that Monza has been chosen as the host city for the world's largest e-Sports event next year," said Mr. Michele Faglia, Mayor of Monza at the signing ceremony. "As the first European city to host the Grand Final will help us strengthen the relationship between the young generation and these new electronic activities." Mr. Hank Jeong, the CEO of International Cyber Marketing (ICM), the global organizer of WCG, said, "We are thrilled that the WCG 2006 Grand Final will be held in Monza as Monza is a hub of international business, culture and education that will help further our aim of achieving world harmony through digital entertainment. Holding the WCG Grand Final in Europe for the first time will also help WCG reach out to global gamers and spectators." Started as the World Cyber Challenge in 2000, WCG was first officially held in 2001 and 2006 will mark its sixth year. It has grown to be the world's largest computer and video games festival, and it is expected that up to 800 of the world's most elite gamers will descend on Monza in 2006 to participate in the world's most prestigious e-Sports competition and enjoy a well-rounded cultural festival designed to advance cultural and social harmony. Samsung Electronics is the worldwide sponsor for the World Cyber Games. Other sponsors of WCG include Intel and Razer.
