MEDIA CENTRE-FAQ
Q: I have some MP3’s with “Special” characters in their file names, but when I look at the files via my “Xploder® V5” it doesn’t show the names properly.
A: “Xploder® V5” does not support special characters, and any files that have such characters in their name will not be displayed correctly. Please rename your files using conventional characters to view them in “Xploder® V5”.
Q: Why are the track times of my MP3’s wrong?
A: If your MP3 tracks are encoded with a variable bit-rate the track time may not be totally accurate.
Q: My Mpeg 1 or 2 movie files won’t playback with Media Centre
Q: Why does my Mpeg 1 or 2 movies stutter when played with Media Centre?
A: We recommend that you only use movie media files that have NEVER been burned as a VCD or SVCD as these formats have usually been highly compressed, therefore lacking error correction and may have playback difficulties with Media Centre. Also, check that you stick to the suggested movies sizes - MPEG 1 – Max size (352x288) - MPEG 2 – Max size (480x576)

Q: Why does it take so long to view my JPEG or BMP pictures with Media Centre?
A: The larger the image file size you want to view, the longer it will take to display onscreen. The average time for a JPEG or BMP file size (1MB) to be displayed will take approximately 12 seconds. We suggest the maximum size for JPEG digital photographs should not exceed 3 Mega Pixels.

Q: Why do the skip forward and backward buttons not work when I play my Mpeg movie?
A: Some non-standard encoded Mpegs will not support the skip forwards/backwards functionality due to irregular sector sizes. In these rare cases, the skip functions will be disabled during playback of such mpegs
ONLINE UPDATES – FAQ
Q: Why can’t I connect to Xploder’s servers with “Xploder® V5”?
A: The settings “Xploder® V5” uses to establish an Internet connection will be the same as those used by other PS2 online games and applications, so check with you internet service provider if you have any doubts.
A: Most Internet service providers will support DHCP, if this is the case then check that the DHCP Enable option is set to ENABLED on the “Connection” settings screen, this should be the default setting.
Q: My “Xploder® V5” will not let me log into Xploder’s server so I can download new cheats, saves or updates.
A: Before you can download Cheats, Saves or new Updates, you must enter your account details in the “User Account” screen; Check you have entered the correct details into the first three fields (User Name, Password and Product Code) on the “User Account” screen”
Q: When I try to connect to the Network to download the latest content, it tells me to enter a Product Code. Where can I find this?
Q: What is my Product Key (M-CODE)
A: The Product Key is a 16-digit code that needs to be entered to gain access to the latest Game saves, Cheats and Updates. Your Product Key that can be found on the separate card supplied with your “Xploder® V5” package: See right. Simply copy the 16-digit Product Key from the card and into the relevant field when asked.
Q: When I try to connect to the Internet, I get a login error, what does this mean?
A: You could receive a login error in many situations, there is a full and comprehensive list of login errors in the back of the manual supplied with your Xploder V5.
Q: I am connecting through a Proxy server to go online with “Xploder® V5”, but it always fails during the connection screen, why is this?
A: Whilst we have provided the ability for “Xploder® V5” to connect online through a Proxy, the use of this facility is not recommended due to the increased likelihood of network errors.
Q: When I go online with “Xploder® V5”, are my user details secure?
A: Yes, we only use your details to keep our services and products secure and to provide you with support should you experience any difficulties and this information will not be distributed.
Q: After connecting to the Internet, why can’t I reset my PS2?
A: Due to the internal workings of the PS2, the reset button on your PS2 is disabled once you have connected to the Internet using your PS2 Network Adaptor. If you need to reset your console after going online, please turn your console off using the switch at the back of your PS2.
Q: My Xploder seems to be freezing when I download Cheats, Saves and Updates. Why is this?
A: Please be patient when downloading Cheats, Saves or Updates. Always wait until you see the “Done” message next to the Logout field on the Network Status screen.
X-Link PC Software FAQ
Q: I can’t seem to get X-Link to connect to the Xploder in my PS2, why is this?
A: First, check you have connected your USB link cable up properly between your PC and PS2. Then start the Xploder V5 disc in your PS2 and leave it on the Main menu screen, then start the X-Link PC Software. The software should now work.
Q: When I try to connect to the X-Link Network to download the latest content, it tells me to enter a Product Code. Where can I find this?
A: The Product Code is a 16-digit code that needs to be entered to gain access to the latest Game saves and Cheats. The Product Code can be found on the back of the card that is inside the Tin packaging. The Product Code card looks like this:
Q: I can’t seem to copy large amounts of saves in one go, why is this?
A: Sometimes when copying large amounts of saves at once, your PC cannot handle the amount of data being transferred. If you experience problems copying large groups of saves, try copying them one by one instead.
Q: I get the message "Bad Comms Protocol", what can I do?
A: Make sure the X-Link PC software is not running, then unplug the USB cable from the PS2 console, then plug it back in again. Now run the X-Link PC software again and you will get “comms” (communication) once again.
Q: I have copied a file across from my PC to my PS2 Memory Card, but it does not appear to be there. Why is this?
A: Try clicking the “Refresh” button with your mouse. This will refresh the Memory Unit panel, and your save should show up.
Q: How do I move Saves or Cheats into different Group Folders in the PC Panel?
A: Use the Drag & Drop method to move files in the PC Panel by using the mouse to select the file you wish to move/copy and simply keep the left mouse button down while dragging it to the Group Folder of your choice then release the left mouse button. You will then be given the choice to copy or move the file.
Q: It doesn’t read my PSX Memory Cards, why is this?
A: X-Link only recognizes officially licensed PS2 Memory cards.
Q: How do I close down X-Link completely? It only seems to minimize to my Pc’s icon tray.
A: If you want to close down X-Link completely, simply right-click the Xploder icon in your Windows icon tray and select close program.
Q: I am having problems using X-Link on Windows 95 or 98?
A: These versions of Windows have been known to have issues with USB. The versions of Windows we assure full compatibility with are; Windows 98SE, Windows 2000, Windows ME and Windows XP.
Q: I seem to have various minor problems when running your software.
A: We suggest that if you have Internet access, you should use Windows Updates to update your version of Windows. Microsoft continually develops Windows to improve and fix various issues. We therefore recommend you keep your version of Windows as up to date as possible.
Q: Does it matter which Memory Slot I use on my PS2 to put my Memory card in?
A: No, X-Link will work no matter which Memory Card slot you have your Memory Card in.
Q: Does it matter which USB port I plug the cable into on the PC/PS2?
A: No you can use either USB slot on both PC and PS2.
Q: Can I plug it into a USB2.0/USB Hi-Speed port?
A: Yes, although the cable is a USB1.1 device.
Q: Can I plug the cable into a hub?
A: Yes, although if you have any problems, try plugging it directly into a USB port on your PC and PS2.
Q: I plug it into a hub and it seems to be intermittent/fail to work
A: Although it should work through a hub, various factors could cause it to be unreliable. If you have any problems, try plugging it directly into a USB port on your PC and PS2.
Q: Can I use a USB extension cable?
A: Yes, although if you have any problems, try plugging it directly into a USB port on your PC.
Q: Will this product cause damage to my PS2 Memory Card?
A: No, it simply writes data to the Memory on the card, as if saving via a normal game..
