When you pick up Halo 3: ODST this September, you won"t get something similar to the full-blown multiplayer mode that Halo 3 shipped with. Instead, you"ll get Firefight mode (similar to Gears of War 2"s Horde mode) and access to the exact same competitive multiplayer mode from Halo 3, complete with every map that"s been released thus far in addition to three new ones: Heretic, Citadel, and Longshore. Today, as part of Bungie Day (the seventh day of the seventh month), Bungie has given us a brief glimpse at all three maps.
Heretic is very much similar to Halo 2"s Midship level in almost every way it would seem, while both of the other maps are completely new. All three are tied into Halo 3"s "Mythic" Achievements, meaning you"ll finally be able to earn those lingering Gamerscore points from Halo 3 once these maps see the light of day. You can no doubt expect to see plenty more screenshots and information on this trio of new maps as we get closer to ODST"s September 22 release date.
