Sure, Infinity Ward is hard at work on Modern Warfare 2, but that doesn"t mean Treyarch has given up on their last contribution to the series yet. The development team has announced that a new Call of Duty: World at War map pack (titled, believe it or not, Map Pack 2) will arrive for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in June.
The pack will bring three new multiplayer maps and one new map for the delightfully bizarre Zombies co-op mode. The multiplayer maps include Banzai, a "fight for control of a tall river bridge, deep within enemy territory;" Corrosion, which takes place in the ruins of a Russian train yard; and Sub Pens, a close-quarters map set in a bombed-out Submarine base. The Zombies map, Shi No Numa (Zombie Swamp), introduces "Imperial Zombies" along with "a mix of traps, flaming Hell Hounds, Perk machines and the deadly, new Wunderwaffe DG-2." In addition to the new maps, the pack also adds ten new Achievements/Trophies.
No price was announced for the map pack, and also, curiously, there was no mention of the pack for the PC version of the game. That"s not to say it isn"t coming, though -- keep in mind that with the first map pack in March, the PC version wasn"t released until about a month after the console versions.
