In the wake of the Mass Effect iPhone leak, BioWare has officially owned up to the new title. A host new of new information has been revealed, much of it intended to put to rest rumors that have sprung up on the Internet.

Posting on the Mass Effect community forums, community coordinator Chris Priestly sought to set the record straight. Among other things, he said that it would not be a prequel, but a "side-story," and that it was not meant to bridge Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2.

"It is not "required reading" to enjoy the core trilogy, but is a fun optional "extra" game," Priestly wrote.
